welcome to the Surrey Assessment Centre
Disabled Students Allowances
Support for disabled students in higher education generally comes from two different sources. One is the university or college itself, and the other is through something called the Disabled Students Allowances (or DSA for short), which is funding provided by the government to cover the costs of any support you may need.
Your needs Assessment
The needs assessment is an opportunity for you to discuss the things that you feel are struggling with due to your disability, specific learning difficulty or health condition, and then evaluate the strategies available to support these areas.
While the support available for students at university can be considerable, what about support before then? We offer pupils studying in years 10 upwards an opportunity to attend an assessment to identify free and low-cost technical support for their studies.
We are based in St Paul’s House in Farnham, about 10 minutes walk from the University of the Creative Arts and town centre. Our office has dedicated parking and is fully accessible. We offer assessments to all students who have applied for DSA funding.
Needs assessment appointments are currently available at the following times:
Monday 9am – 3pm
Tuesday 10am – 4pm
Wednesday 9am – 3pm
Thursday 9am – 4pm
However, if you are only available for a needs assessment on a Friday, give us a call and we’ll move things around to accommodate you.
